Logan Mankins still waiting
The standoff continues.
A month after Patriots guard Logan Mankins went public about his contract-related frustration with the Patriots, the two parties have not communicated.
It is still not clear whether the Pro Bowler will show up for preseason camp on July 28 with his teammates. Mankins skipped all of the organized team activities and minicamp because he believes the Patriots did not fulfill a promise to sign him to a suitable long-term extension.
“There’s nothing that’s happened. We haven’t heard from them,” Mankins’ agent, Frank Bauer, told the Herald last night. “Everyone in the NFL is on vacation. We just have to see what happens.”
Report: Tebow to work out for Pats
Albert Breer
According to my old colleague Matt Hayes of the Sporting News, the Patriots are among five teams that have private workouts set up with Florida QB Tim Tebow.
Hayes has been around the Gator program for quite some time, so it's worth noting he also had the Browns, Seahawks, Redskins and Bills set to put Tebow through the paces. The Tebow camp has been pretty tight-lipped on specifying what teams are sniffing around the quarterback.
Patriots interested in Julius Peppers
The New England Patriots remain interested in pursuing Carolina Panther star pass rusher Julius Peppers.
According to NFL.com, the Panthers aren't going to use the franchise tag on Peppers.
So, he'll undoubtedly hit free agency as the marquee player available on the open market.
Galloway cut confirmed
Mike Florio
We heard earlier this morning that the Patriots have cut receiver Joey Galloway.

Patriots wide receiver Joey Galloway was one such player who stayed home this week, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
Except that he isn't injured.
Galloway "did not accompany" the Patriots to Denver because he was going to be a healthy scratch for the second straight week.

The Boston Herald is reporting that the The Patriots found their pass rusher and Derrick Burgess found a new home. All it took was several months, one holdout and two future draft picks to make it happen.

While chairman/CEO Robert Kraft addressed rumors linking the Patriots and Michael Vick during a radio interview yesterday - essentially ruling out the possibility - the club was considering the possibility of signing a veteran quarterback.
